Desk Size Calculator
Measure two things with a tape measure: the room width — how deep the space is where the desk will sit, from the wall out into the room — and the available wall length — the clear stretch of wall the desk can stand against. Enter both in inches.
How the calculator thinks
- Desk width: about 55–80% of your free wall, kept within the 36–72 inch range where small desks actually exist.
- Chair space: it assumes a compact 24-inch-deep desk and checks that roughly 36 inches remain behind it for you and your chair.
- L-shaped fit: a compact L-shape needs about 55+ inches of wall and about 84 inches of room depth.
- Walking pad fit: a typical pad is about 20–22 inches wide and 47–55 inches long, so it wants a desk at least 48 inches wide and about 72 inches of room depth.
